Modern Masters MasterClear is a single component water based aliphatic acrylic polyurethane that provides an extremely durable protective topcoat to be used over Modern Masters Metallic Paint Collection products without affecting their metallic shimmer. This unique protective clear topcoat product utilizes self-cross linking technology and UV absorbers and inhibitors that make the product extremely mar resistant and suitable for exterior use. MasterClear is available in satin or semi-gloss sheens and comes in both quarts and gallons.
NOTE: Other clear topcoats may dull and otherwise ruin the shimmering appearance of Metallic Paint Collection paints.
This product can only be sold as a part of a Faux Finishing coating system.

PRODUCT APPLICATION
SURFACE PREPARATION
Allow Metallic Paint Collection colors to dry for 24-48 hours before applying MasterClear. Painted surface should be clean, dry and fully cured prior to application. For surfaces not painted with Modern Masters Metallic Paint Collections colors, apply on a small test area to ensure the color and desired effect is achieved.
APPLICATION
Modern Masters Metallic Paint Collection MasterClear can be brushed, rolled, or spray applied Stir thoroughly before use, do not shake. For best results and maximum protection, it is recommended to apply two or more coats for interior use and three or more coats for exterior use.
Do not apply in temperatures below 55°F/13°C or above 95°F/35°C.
BRUSHING: Use a high-quality synthetic bristle brush.
ROLLING: Use a high-quality short nap varnish roller.
SPRAYING: To spray MasterClear, thin with up to 10%, 12 fluid ounces of water to one gallon of MasterClear Topcoat. Use an HVLP gun, conventional cup gun or airless spray system.
TAPING: Use high quality, low-tack tape when taping over surfaces that have been previously painted with Metallic Paint. When painting over taped-off areas be aware that Metallic Paints exhibit poor early adhesion properties and are elastomeric (they stretch) during curing. Because of these two factors consider cutting along the tape edge with a razor blade to avoid delaminating the fresh paint from the substrate.
DRY TIMES: Drying times were recorded at 77°F and 50% RH. Dry-to-touch time is approximately ½ hour. Recoat time is approximately 2 hours and full cure in 7 days.
NOTE: Lower temperature and/or higher humidity will lengthen the dry and cure times.
COVERAGE: One gallon will cover approximately 320 square feet. Approximately 1.5 mils dry film thickness per coat. Minimum of two coats is recommended.
SHEEN RANGES @ 60°: Satin 20-30 and Semi-Gloss 50-65
CLEAN UP: Clean brushes, rollers, tool, and equipment with soap and warm water immediately after use. Do not reuse containers and properly dispose of empty containers.
HANDLING & STORAGE: Close tightly all containers when not in use. Store in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight. Do not freeze.
DISPOSAL: Dispose of unused or unwanted product in accordance with local laws regulating water-based coatings.
