DESCRIPTION AND USES
Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Custom Spray 5-in-1 allows you to choose between 5 different spray patterns for ultimate control and confidence over your next project. The advanced Stops Rust formula provides 30% greater corrosion resistance and color retention compared to original matching Stops Rust colors with standard tip. Ideal for ferrous, non-ferrous metal and wood surfaces. Not for use on galvanized metal.
PRODUCT APPLICATION
SURFACE PREPARATION
Remove all dirt, grease, oil, salt and chemical contaminants by washing the surface with a commercial detergent, or other suitable cleaning method. Rinse with fresh water and allow to thoroughly dry. Remove loose paint and rust with a wire brush or sandpaper. Previously coated surfaces must be sound and in good condition. Smooth, hard, or glossy finishes should be scarified by sanding to create a surface profile.
PRIMING
Use of a Stops Rust Primer provides added corrosion protection, superior adhesion and hiding and is especially recommended for bare wood and metal.
APPLICATION
Use outdoors or in a well-ventilated area such as an open garage. Use when temperature is between 50-90°F (10-32°C) and humidity is below 65% to ensure proper drying. Do not apply to surfaces that, when heated, exceed 200°F (93°C) or galvanized metal. Avoid spraying in very windy, dusty conditions. Cover surrounding area to protect from spray mist.
Before spraying, turn dial to the desired spray pattern and test on an inconspicuous area or on scrap material. Scan QR code to learn more. Shake can vigorously for one minute after mixing ball begins to rattle. If mixing ball fails to rattle, DO NOT STRIKE CAN. Contact Rust-Oleum. Shake often during use. Keep the can the same distance from the surface. Recommended distance from the surface will vary based on spray selection. Scan QR code on can for details. Keep the can in motion while spraying. Spray in a steady back-and-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Spray at any angle. Apply 2 or more light coats a few minutes apart. Turn dial to LOCK position when finished spraying.

DRY AND RECOAT TIMES
Based on 70°F (21°C)-50% relative humidity. Allow more time at cooler temperatures. Dries to touch in 2-4 hours, to handle in 5-9 hours, and is fully dry in 24 hours. Apply a second coat or Clear coat within 1 hour or after 48 hours. Apply Clear in 2-3 light coats a few minutes apart. Primers may be top coated immediately.
DIAL CARE AND CLOGGING
To prevent clogging, clean face of the dial with mineral spirits when finished spraying. DO NOT remove cap or dial.
CLEAN UP
To remove wet paint, clean with mineral spirits. Throw away empty can in trash pickup. Do not burn or place in home trash compactor.
