PRODUCT APPLICATION
SURFACE PREPARATION
Remove any existing finishes with sandpaper or liquid stripper. Surface must be dry, clean and free of dirt, grease, glue and any existing coatings before staining. Use a clean rag dampened with water and wipe over wood. Prepare bare wood for staining by sanding in the direction of the grain. Begin with #120 grit sandpaper and progress though #150 and #180 grits. Do not use steel wool. Remove all sanding dust prior to application.
APPLICATION
NOTE: To test stain color, apply the stain in an inconspicuous area.
Shake bottle prior to use. Remove cap and apply pressure to sponge to break the stain seal. Light squeeze bottle to release and control product flow. Apply the stain across the grain until product is worked into the wood. Wipe any excess stain off in the direction of the wood grain.
Do not let the stain dry before wiping excess. For hard to reach areas, transfer product from the foam dabber to a small brush or rag. Close cap tightly after each use.
A second coat can be applied after 2 hours if desired. Do not sand between stain coats. A Varathane Polyurethane can be applied after 3 hours.
