Crazing

  • Updated

This is a common concrete condition called Crazing.  When the concrete is wet or in this case has a coating applied, it accents or brings out this condition. It is not the coating that cracked, but the coating is following the concrete substrate. RockSolid crazing is caused by the product seeping into these "micro-cracks". The main causes of the concrete crazing are curing too rapidly, over-floating or troweling the surface, or adding water or dry cement to finish the slab. Crazing can also be caused by drying out of the concrete surface when it was installed, and is common when the surface has been exposed during low humidity, high air or concrete temperature, hot sun, or any combination of these. The only thing that can be done is to re-apply another coat to try and hide or cover this effect.
