POSSIBLE CAUSE

Moisture condensing on, and being trapped in the wet film or solvent trapped underneath. This may be due to:

  • Application during cold, wet or humid weather.
  • Use of too fast or poor quality thinner.
  • Increased airflow over the film to speed up solvent release.
  • Recoating or topcoating too soon
  • Application of heavy coats

SOLUTION

  • If possible, avoid spraying air drying paint during rainy or exceptionally cold or humid weather.
  • Use the correct grade of thinner.
  • Reduce compressed air pressure to minimize the cooling effect.
  • Allow solvent release to take place naturally. Do not force dry.
  • Ensure that the conditions are appropriate for application and curing
  • Apply coating at recommended spread rate
  • Recoat as specified by manufacturer

PRODUCTS RECOMMENDED

  • Wipe surface with solvent, usually denatured alcohol
  • If denatured alcohol does not make any improvement, coating will have to be sanded and reapplied.
