ROCKSOLID® Clear Coat - Application

  • Updated

You can apply the ROCKSOLID® Clear Topcoat OR ROCKSOLID® Textured Clear Topcoat Floor Coating once the last coat has dried hard or after at least 12 hours. You have up to 30 days to apply either clear coat, the sooner this can be done, the better, as the floor must remain pristine to ensure proper adhesion. If there is any dirt or debris on the surface, or if it has been walked on during this time, the floor should be cleaned with a cleaner and degreaser. To ensure the best possible adhesion, follow this cleaning by wiping the floor using a cloth dampened with acetone to remove any lingering surface contaminants. Once the solvent evaporates, the floor is ready to be coated.

After the 30-day recoat window, the floor must be cleaned again with a cleaner & degreaser. Once dry, scuff sand the floor with 80-100 grit sandpaper and remove the sanding dust by sweeping or vacuuming. Then, wipe the floor with a cloth dampened with acetone to remove all remaining surface contaminants. The solvent will evaporate nearly instantaneously, and the clear coating may be applied right after the surface is wiped down.
