A primer is not required for most surfaces when using our Chalked Ultra Matte Paint. For excellent coverage, use of a primer such as our ZINSSER® Cover-Stain® Oil-Base Primer, is ideal for surfaces such as bare wood, treated wood or oak wood. When going from a dark to light color, priming is recommended to avoid multiple coats of the finish.
