DESCRIPTION AND USES

Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Chain Link Fence Paint is designed to protect and preserve weathered galvanized metal fences. It offers excellent coverage, chip resistance, and color retention. One coat will extend the life of the fence and restore an attractive appearance.

PRODUCT APPLICATION

SURFACE PREPARATION

Cut down weeds and long grass along the fence. Brush the wire mesh, posts and supports with a stiff broom to remove loose rust, dirt, etc. Hose down the fence with fresh water. When the fence is dry, spot prime any rusted areas with Stops Rust 7769 Rusty Metal Primer. Do not prime non-rusted areas.

APPLICATION

Before using, stir thoroughly to ensure any settled pigment is re-dispersed. If necessary, thin the material with mineral spirits. For brush or roller, thin no more than 5% with mineral spirits. Do not thin with gasoline, lacquer thinner, turpentine, etc. Apply with a good quality brush and roller.

Apply only when air and surface temperatures are between 50-90°F (10-32°C) and humidity is below 85% to ensure proper drying.

Brush: Apply to fence posts and horizontal supports. Excessive brushing will reduce protection.

Roller: Use an extra long nap (1-1½ inch) lamb’s wool roller which will reach around each individual wire and coat approximately 70% of the surface in a single pass. Paint at a 45° angle and cover about four strands at each pass. Move slowly and roll away from previously painted surfaces. Then work back in for a uniform appearance. A second painter with a similar roller lightly loaded with paint can follow on the other side to pick up excess paint and finish the process.

CLEAN-UP

Clean brush, roller, and tools with mineral spirits.
