Varathane Fill Stick

DESCRIPTION AND USES

Varathane Fill Sticks are a quick and easy way to repair scratches, nicks, dents or other minor imperfections in any wood surface. Premium Fill Sticks are suitable for touching up furniture, cabinets, trim, doors and floors. Premium Fill Sticks can be used to complement Varathane Premium Wood Stains or blend different Fill sticks to create custom colors. 

PRODUCT APPLICATION

SURFACE PREPARATION

If the area around the nick or dent is rough, sand the area smooth by sanding with #120 grit sandpaper in the direction of the grain. Remove all sanding dust with a vacuum or clean rag dampened with mineral spirits.

APPLICATION

Prior to repairs, determine the Fill Stick color that best matches the wood project. See the front panel of the package for Fill Stick color identification. Test the Fill Stick in an inconspicuous area to ensure the chosen color will match the project. Work the Fill Stick into the defect until filled. Remove excess material using a plastic putty knife.

PROTECTING YOUR PROJECT

If desired, additional protection of the repaired area can be achieved by applying a thin coat of Varathane Polyurethane. Apply the polyurethane with an artist acrylic paint brush and follow the manufacturer’s directions for dry times.
