Varathane Wood Grain Enhancer

  • Updated

DESCRIPTION AND USES

Varathane Wood Grain Enhancer accents the wood grain on bare or stained wood. It is designed to create a color contrast on a variety of projects. This product works best on wood with a significant grain pattern such as red oak, white oak or ash.

Not for use on outdoor surfaces. For wood substrates only.

PRODUCT APPLICATION

SURFACE PREPARATION

Start with bare wood. Use a clean rag dampened with water and wipe over the wood. Apply light pressure using a steel brush in the direction of the grain to open up the wood grain. Allow the surface to dry. Remove any dust with a clean, dry rag. OPTIONAL: Stain can be applied to add color to the wood. For best results, use a Varathane stain.

APPLICATION

Stir thoroughly before and occasionally during use. For best results, use at temperatures between 60ºF (16ºC) and 90ºF (32ºC). Apply Wood Grain Enhancer liberally to wood with a lint-free rag against the grain. With a clean rag, wipe against the wood grain to remove excess material. Wood Grain Enhancer will sit in the grain and create your final look.

DRY TIME

Dry times are based on 70°F and 50% relative humidity. Lower temperatures and/or higher humidity may cause slower dry times. Allow the grain enhancer to dry for 2 hours before application of Varathane Polyurethane.

COVERAGE

One quart will cover up to 150 square feet.

PROTECTING THE FINAL FINISH

To complete your project and to offer the best protection, apply a finish coat of Varathane Polyurethane
