DESCRIPTION AND USES

Rust-Oleum Specialty Countertop Coating is designed to provide a smooth, scratch resistant finish that renews and restores laminate countertops, cabinets and furniture. This coating contains antimicrobial protection that will protect the painted surface by inhibiting the growth of mold and mildew and other odor or stain causing microbes. It resists moisture and daily wear and tear in kitchens, bathrooms, workrooms and more. This coating can be used on vinyl tiles, wood and metal surfaces. It is not designed for use on floors, granite, marble, ceramic tile, and concrete. Countertop Quart can be matched to one of 26 finish colors using Evonik® Colortrend™ 888 colorants. The maximum volume amount of colorant is 3 fluid ounces per quart.

PRODUCT APPLICATION

SURFACE PREPARATION

Clean laminate surfaces with detergent and water, rinse and let dry. For metal surfaces, remove loose paint and rust with a wire brush or sandpaper. Lightly sand glossy surfaces.

PRIMING

If painting a laminate or vinyl surface, no primer is needed.
For bare metal surfaces, use 7780502 Clean Metal Primer.
For bare wood surfaces, use either 224430T Painter’s Touch
Flat White Primer or 7980502 American Accents White Primer.

NOTE: If using more than one quart, combine before use.

APPLICATION

Use when temperature is between 50ºF (10ºC) and 90ºF (32ºC) and humidity is below 85% to ensure proper drying. Do not apply to surfaces that when heated will exceed 200°F (93°C). Properly ventilate the area by opening windows or using fans. Thoroughly mix to ensure any settled pigment is re-dispersed. Apply using a good quality a foam roller designed to give a smooth finish, a conventional HVLP or airless sprayer. Avoid excessive brushing or rolling. Use light, even strokes to ensure an even coat and the smooth finish.

DRY and RECOAT TIMES

Based on 77ºF (25ºC) and 50% relative humidity. Allow more time at cooler temperatures. Dries to the touch in 1-2 hours, to handle in 4-6 hours. May be recoated within 1 hour or after 24 hours. May require more than one coat over contrasting colors. Allow 3 days for the surface to dry before use.

CLEAN-UP

Clean brush and other application tools immediately with xylene. Properly dispose of all soiled rags. Properly discard empty container.
