DESCRIPTION AND USES

Rust-Oleum Professional Water Based Enamel is a  igh-performance, fast drying, water-based coating for interior or exterior use. This product delivers excellent corrosion resistance along with strong adhesion, UV, and impact resistance. It is ideal for metal surfaces where an ultra-smooth, durable finish is needed and long-term protection is essential.

PRODUCT APPLICATION

SURFACE PREPARATION

Clean surface with soap and water, rinse and let dry. Remove loose paint and rust with a wire brush or sandpaper. Lightly sand glossy surfaces. All surfaces must be dry at time of application.

APPLICATION

Apply only when the air, surface, and material temperatures are between 40-100°F (4-38°C) and the surface temperature is at least 5°F (3°C) above the dew point. Air temperature must remain above 40ºF during curing process. The relative humidity should not be greater than 85%.

Mix thoroughly to ensure any settled pigment is re-dispersed before using. Thin material, only, if necessary, with clean water. For brush or roller, thinning is not normally required. Apply with a good quality synthetic bristle brush, or good quality lamb’s wool or synthetic fiber roller. For air spray, thin up 1 pint per gallon. For airless spray, up to 1/2 pint per gallon.

THINNING

Brush/Roller: Normally not required. When necessary, thin with fresh water.

Air Atomized Spray: Up to 1 pint per gallon.

Airless Spray: Up to 1/2 pint per gallon.

DRY & RECOAT TIMES 

Dry and recoat times are based on 70°F (21°C) and 50% relative humidity. Allow more time at cooler temperatures. Dries to the touch in 15 minutes, to handle in 45 minutes and can be recoated in 2 hours.  

CLEANUP

Clean brush, roller and other tools with soap and water.
