DESCRIPTION AND USES
Rust-Oleum Rust Dissolver is a specially formulated water-based product designed to dissolve and remove rust and oxidation on a variety of surfaces. It is suitable for use on iron, steel, aluminum, chrome, galvanized metal, porcelain, tile, fiberglass, glass, auto cooling systems and firearms. Apply by brush or as a bath.
Always test on an inconspicuous area first. On metal, maintain a wet solution on the surface to remove rust. Once the rust is dissolved, rinse or wipe the surface with water and wait one hour before painting. Do not allow Rust Dissolver to dry on painted surfaces. For improved paint adhesion on clean metal surfaces, dilute the dissolver 50/50 with water, apply the solution and rinse or wipe the surface. Disassemble units composed of moveable parts before cleaning. Rinse parts and allow to dry before reassembling. To avoid flash rusting, wipe clean metal with a dry cloth or place in a warm, dry atmosphere. Do not use on marble.
PRODUCT APPLICATION
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Remove oil and grease from the metal to be treated. Rinse the metal to break the surface tension and wash away loose dirt. Apply Rust Dissolver by brushing onto the surface or immersing the item into a plastic, glass or stainless steel container. Rust Dissolver may also be circulated in auto cooling systems. Check the progress periodically by the type of application.
Rust is instantly dissolved on firearms. Rust dissolves on aluminum, chrome and new galvanized metal in 3-5 minutes. Porcelain, tile, fiberglass and glass surfaces make take 5 minutes or longer. Allow Rust Dissolver to work for 15-30 minutes on iron, steel, unbroken galvanized and galvanized surfaces where rust is showing at the surface. Note: Heavier deposits may require a second application. When the process is complete, rinse all surfaces with clean water. Note: Refill auto cooling systems with coolant after the process is complete.
