PRODUCT APPLICATION

PAINTING CONDITIONS

Use outdoors or in a well ventilated area such as an open garage. Use when temperature is between 60-90°F (16- 32°C) and humidity is below 60% to ensure proper drying. Do not apply to surfaces that, when heated, exceed 200°F (93°C).

PRIMING

If the scratch or chip exposes bare metal or if rust is visible, use of a Rust-Oleum Automotive Primer (U5012C or 286493) is recommended to provide added corrosion protection, enhanced adhesion and hiding. Allow primer to dry 1 hour before applying Rust-Oleum Automotive Scratch & Chip Repair markers.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Wash the surface with a commercial detergent, or other suitable cleaning method to remove dirt. Rinse with fresh water and dry with a clean cloth. For best results, remove all oil, grease, wax and petroleum based materials with Rust-Oleum Wax & Tar Remover. If necessary, remove loose paint and rust with a wire brush or sandpaper. Lightly sand glossy surfaces.

APPLICATION

Shake the bottle well before and during use. Press paint pen on a hard surface such as a scrap piece of metal to release the pen valve. Squeeze the bottle to start the paint flow on the scratch or chip. Use a brush to smooth out the paint in one direction. Allow the paint to dry for 30 minutes before applying additional coats. Wait 24 hours after paint application before applying a clear coat. Do not use near open flame.

DRY & RECOAT

Dry and recoat times are based on 70°F (21°C) and 50% relative humidity. Allow more time at cooler temperatures. Dries to the touch and can be recoated in 30 minutes. Wait 24 hours before using vehicle.

CLEAN-UP

Wipe off tip when finished and replace cap tightly. Clean up wet paint with acetone or lacquer thinner. Properly discard empty container.
