Automotive Lens Tint

  • Updated

DESCRIPTION AND USES

Rust-Oleum Lens Tint is a translucent coating that is designed to give your vehicle a customized appearance. When applied, Lens Tint gives your lights a tinted appearance until they are lit. When illuminated, the natural color shows through. Lens tint is ideal for tail lights, fog lights, side markers, or turn indicators and is recommended for off-road use. Rust-Oleum Lens Tint features an advanced spray system that allows you to spray at any angle, even upside down for those hard to reach areas. A comfort spray tip with a wider finger pad reduces fatigue caused by continuous spraying.

PRODUCT APPLICATION

READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE STARTING PROJECT

SURFACE PREPARATION

Removing the lens from your vehicle is recommended for ease of application. If you cannot remove the lens from your vehicle, mask adjoining areas to protect from spray mist. Prepare the surface by removing any oil, grease, wax, or road tar. For best results use a clean cloth and wipe the surface with Rust-Oleum® Wax & Tar Remover.

APPLICATION

Use outdoors or in a well ventilated area such as an open garage. Use when temperature is between 50°F (10°C) and 90°F (32°C) and humidity is below 85% to ensure proper drying. Do not apply to surfaces, when heated, exceed 200°F (93°C). Avoid spraying in very windy and dusty conditions. Cover surrounding area to protect from spray mist.

Shake can vigorously for one minute after the mixing ball begins to rattle. If mixing ball fails to rattle DO NOT STRIKE CAN. Contact Rust-Oleum. Shake often during use. Hold can upright 10-16" from surface and spray in a steady backand-forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke. Keep the can in motion while spraying. Apply one light coat or just enough to change the lens color. DO NOT exceed three coats or light may not show through. Do not use near open flame.

DRY & RECOAT

Dry and recoat times are based on 70°F and 50% relative humidity. Allow more time at cooler temperatures. Dries to touch in 20 minutes, to handle in 1 hour and is fully dry in 24 hours. Apply a second coat within 1 hour or after 24 hours.

CLEAN-UP

Wipe off tip when finished. Clean-up wet paint with xylene or mineral spirits. Properly discard empty container. Do not burn or place in home trash compactor.
